CD Projekt Red promised on Wednesday that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition reaches Mac gamers in early 2025. The graphically intensive action role-playing game earned a lengthy list of awards since its original debut in 2020.
This is the latest AAA game headed for Mac, along with Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Mac gamers
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world RPG set in the dark future of Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour, and body modification. Players take on the role of V, a cyber-enhanced mercenary, and embark on a fight for survival. The Ultimate Edition adds Phantom Liberty, a spy-thriller set in the walled-off district of Dogtown.
The game features rockerboy Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) and FIA sleeper agent Solomon Reed (played by Idris Elba).
It’s already available for Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, and Stadia. And CD Projekt Red announced Wednesday:
“Cyberpunk 2077 and its spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty will be coming to Mac. Taking full advantage of Apple silicon and advanced technologies of Metal, the world of the dark future is available to Mac gamers for the very first time. Players can enjoy advanced features like path tracing, frame generation, and built-in Spatial Audio for even more immersive gameplay and stunning visuals.”
Apple highlighted the announcement when launching the M4 MacBook Pro.
At this point, CD Projekt Red has only promised that the launch of the Mac edition of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be “early next year.”
The regular price for the bundle on other platforms is $89.98.
Plus Assassin’s Creed Shadows and more
Apple’s M-series processors are very powerful. So powerful that they provide better performance than most users need. But games are much more demanding than web browsers and email apps, so Apple has been encouraging developers to bring their games to Mac.
On the list is Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft already committed to bringing this to Mac, and Apple said Wednesday that the launch would be in February.
Apple also used the MacBook Pro launch to highlight some of the AAA games available now or coming soon to Mac.
