Twelve South says the PlugBug charger it launched Thursday is the first power supply to support Apple’s Find My technology. That means the USB-C charger can be located with an iPhone app, and warns its owner if it’s being left behind.
The multiport accessory puts out up to 120W.
PlugBug: The charger you can’t lose (because of Find My)
It happens to all too many travelers: They check out of their hotel room, and leave their expensive iPhone charger plugged in behind the nightstand. That won’t happen with Twelve South’s PlugBug. With support for Apple’s clever Find My network baked in, you might never lose this charger.
The user’s iPhone will alert them if they get too far away from the charger. And if they misplace it, the location shows up in the Find My app. If that sounds familiar, it’s as if the accessory had an Apple AirTag permanently implanted.
“Whether at the airport charging bank, the bottom of your bag or in the hotel room, you can always find your charger when you need it,” promises accessory-maker Twelve South.
The company filmed a video to show off PlugBug’s advantages.
Two PlugBug versions to choose from
Twelve South makes two variants of the Find My-enabled power supply. One includes two USB-C ports and puts out up to 50W, while a four-port version puts out up to 120W.
Not surprisingly, there’s a size difference. The two-port model measures 3.3 inches by 1.9 inches by 0.9 inches and weighs 0.25 pounds. The four-port variant comes in at 4.1 inches by 2.4 inches by 1.2 inches and 0.55 pounds.
