Ensuring secure and seamless global connectivity

As businesses increasingly rely on cloud technologies, ensuring secure and efficient global connectivity is paramount. GNX, a provider of global internet and private connectivity solutions, is addressing this challenge head-on.

Ahead of Cyber Security & Cloud Expo Europe, CloudTech caught up with Rick Mur, Co-Founder & CTO of GNX, to discuss the evolving landscape of connectivity and how GNX is helping businesses navigate the complexities of the cloud.

“The global internet and private connectivity market has evolved significantly in recent years, driven by several key trends,” says Mur. “There has been a substantial increase in demand for high-speed, reliable connectivity as businesses become more digitally dependent. The rapid growth of cloud services and the rapid explosion of more connected devices has further fueled this demand.”

Navigating data privacy and security in the cloud era

This shift towards cloud-centric operations introduces new security considerations, particularly for businesses operating within stringent regulatory frameworks.

“GNX is all about providing connectivity in the most transparent way possible,” Mur explains. “This results in an offering of internet, private and cloud connectivity services through a transparent self-service platform GNX+.

“GNX also works with several SD-WAN and SASE vendors and integrators to ensure the perfect harmony between an underlay infrastructure and secure overlay network. Because internet connectivity alone is not sufficient for most compliance certifications, private connectivity options are needed to ensure that the full network infrastructure is compliant with local laws and regulatory obligations.”

Data privacy regulations present another layer of complexity. GNX’s private connectivity services, including point-to-point direct links with optional encryption, ensure secure data transfer.

“Private connectivity services are still needed to ensure data privacy and security in certain deployments,” Mur emphasises. “GNX also provides cloud on-ramp services across the world and connects cloud regions seamlessly together using secure private solutions.”

Optimising global connectivity

Recognising the prevalence of hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, GNX focuses on providing seamless integration and management across diverse platforms.

“Supporting hybrid and multi-cloud environments is crucial in today’s diverse IT landscape,” says Mur. “GNX provides seamless integration between different cloud platforms and on-premises infrastructure. This often involves offering a mix of private and public connectivity options, all managed via GNX+. The goal is to create a smooth, efficient experience for businesses operating across multiple cloud and on-premises systems.”

To guarantee optimal performance for cloud applications, GNX leverages a combination of strategic approaches.

“Ensuring low latency and high bandwidth for cloud-based operations is typically achieved through a combination of strategies,” explains Mur. “These often include leveraging the best available infrastructure to reduce distance-related latency, understanding tier-1 and tier-2 transit provider connections, using intelligent monitoring, and implementing traffic optimisation for customers.

“Offering dedicated connection options for mission-critical applications, as discussed before, is also a key part of our strategy to help customers reach the highest potential bandwidth and the lowest possible latency.”

Attendees of Cyber Security & Cloud Expo Europe can look forward to gaining valuable insights from GNX.

“GNX will share our strategy for a successful and seamless global connectivity project,” Mur shares. “Connectivity is a critical piece in a successful cloud strategy. Have you ever considered ‘how’ you get to the cloud? And when it comes to connecting your sites or DCs in regulated markets (like China), there are additional challenges to consider in addition to navigating the complicated vendor landscape.

“We’ll answer these questions via real life use cases during our keynote presentation. If you’re interested in a live demo (based on your own input), stop by our booth and we’re more than happy to show you!”
