Video editor’s Elgato Stream Deck aids workflow in MacBook Pro setup
Video editor and Redditor MentalOriental (“Mo”) showcased the smart-looking setup in a post entitled, “My complete setup.” Recently we spotlighted Mo’s M1 Pro MacBook Pro (16GB memory) setup with an emphasis on his audio gear, particularly his Sonos surround-sound system. Then we focused on his Elgato gadgetry that plays important supporting roles on the video side of things, including an Elgato Key Light Air plus another lighting element, the popular BenQ Screenbar Halo LED Monitor Light.
Here’s Mo’s breezy description of how he uses the setup: “I sit at my desk to make YouTube videos, work from home, eat and watch TV shows.”
So he makes lots of YouTube videos. And he said he used to do a lot of videoconferences. So he makes good use of his Maono PD200X dynamic microphone on a microphone boom arm attached to the desk. We looked at the mic and boom arm recently. Today we take a closer look at his Elgato Stream Deck.

Elgato’s latest version of the basic model is Elgato Stream Deck MK.2. You can get it in black or white. It’s not the only gear of it’s kind. Razer makes a controller and Logitech rolled out MX Creative Controller in September.
Stream Deck features 15 customizable LCD keys to control apps and platforms. And you can visit the Elgato Marketplace for app plugins, icons, tracks and effects “and keep your setup fresh with interchangeable faceplates,” the company said.
And it’s not only about video streaming workflows. You can customize the 15 LCD keys to trigger a vast array of actions. “One-touch tactile operation lets you control apps, launch social posts, adjust audio, mute your mic, turn on lights and so much more, while visual feedback confirms your every command,” Elgato noted.
