igus, a long-standing player in the 3D printing market, has recently launched a new line of highly durable and self-lubricating powders and resins for 3D printing. These products are available for purchase or can be used through the igus 3D printing service.
One of these new products is the iglidur i230 SLS powder, which is optimized for laser sintering and sliding applications. It is PFAS-free and offers improved mechanical strength. With a maximum application temperature of 110°C, it outperforms the standard 3D printing material PA12 in terms of wear resistance by 80%. Among all igus laser sintering materials, it has the highest flexural strength.
To meet the requirements of electrical engineering applications, igus has also introduced the iglidur i9-ESD laser sintering powder. This powder is specifically designed for sensitive electronic components. It has an electrical resistance ranging from 106 to 109 ohms, making it electrostatically dissipative and reducing the risk of discharge currents between components. It is particularly well-suited for the electronics and semiconductor industries. The iglidur i9-ESD powder can be purchased or obtained through the 3D printing service within five to ten days.
Another SLS powder offered by igus is the iglidur i8-ESD. This powder is designed for low-cost SLS systems and is electrostatically dissipative (resistance: 104 to 107 ohms). It is suitable for creating durable and abrasion-resistant 3D printed components. The powder works with all laser sintering systems, with or without a CO2 laser. It is available in 2kg containers for use on low-cost systems.
In addition to these powders, igus has expanded its 3D printing range with the introduction of the iglidur i3000 resin. This resin is specifically engineered for DLP 3D printing of wear-resistant parts, such as gears. It provides increased stability and has improved mechanical specifications by 50%. The resin produces parts with fine details and a long service life when hardened in layers with UV light. The iglidur i3000 resin can be purchased or obtained through the igus 3D printing service online.
Furthermore, the igus 3D printing service has been enhanced. Users now have access to a tool that provides all the necessary information about price, manufacturability, delivery time, and expected service life of the printed component. Additionally, threads in printed components can now be recut.
In addition to introducing new powders and resins, igus has expanded its core business of extrusion 3D printer components and filaments. One of their latest offerings is the iglidur i150 filament, which is now available on a 2kg spool to meet the growing demand. This not only improves productivity but also reduces filament residue.
Another new product from igus is the W360CM-series linear plain bearings for drylin R round shaft guides. These bearings provide improved rigidity for operating points with very low clearance. The fixed flange bearing is corrosion-free and comes in three sizes for column guides made of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.
To reduce axial clearance, igus offers the zero backlash lead screw nut, known for its precision. This self-adjusting nut consists of multiple components and is particularly suitable for lead screw drives with high helix threads. It allows for quick adjustment of small loads.
For small and limited installation spaces, igus’ drylin T miniature guides are the ideal solution. For the 09, 12, and 15 installation sizes, igus has developed new linear carriages with selectable spring preload. These carriages offer controlled friction, defined displacement forces, and operate quietly and rattle-free.
