Assetto Corsa EVO has been a long time coming but the release window for the game must be coming up soon.
A decade on from the original game’s launch in 2014, Assetto Corsa EVO is returning to its roots with a mix of road and race vehicles. This departs from 2019’s Assetto Corsa Competizione – Evo, which focused on the racing side of cars.
Nonetheless, the game is still expected to feature a wide range of real-life cars and licensed tracks, thanks to collaborations with racing locations and car brands from around the world.
It’s also built in the studio’s own proprietary game engine, an unusual choice but one that has seemingly paid off from what’s been published of the stunningly detailed graphics so far.
Assetto Corsa EVO, like those that came before it, is a haven for car lovers, so capturing every curve and detail of the featured cars is a must. Both the interiors and exteriors of the vehicles are recreated in exquisite detail, while weather conditions and lighting has also been masterfully rendered. If the final game is anything like the screenshots shared so far, fans of the franchise are in for a treat.
What’s new in Assetto Corso EVO?
Those graphics will certainly be put to the test, with the game introducing dynamic weather and adjustable day-night transitions for the first time.
Previously, custom modders had created means to do so in the 2014 game but this time the game developers have taken it upon themselves to integrate the features into the official gameplay from the very beginning.
Not only will the weather conditions look good graphically, but they also reflect actual performance conditions as they would in real life. Game developer Kunos describes “a new mathematical model meticulously [that] simulates asphalt performance in different dynamic weather conditions”, guaranteeing “an authentic and realistic experience which will redefine the standards that have made Assetto Corsa globally renowned.”
Put simply, the licensed tracks will be drivable with realistic grip levels that reflect the dynamic weather conditions. Pick rain for a tougher drive experience, or go easy in bright sunshine to get to grips with a new track.
Plus, Kunos also confirmed in July that VR will be integrated into the game from the beginning. 2019’s Competizione also featured VR but with limited support initially which affected gamers’ experience negatively. This time around, Kunos is that VR fans should “rest assured.”
What cars will be featured in Assetto Corsa EVO?
A full list of cars featured in Assetto Corsa Evo has not yet been released but, based on screenshots published from the game, we already have a fairly good idea of at least some of the cars featured. There are likely to be more but, for now, here’s a list of the sets spotted in the game materials ahead of its release:
- Alfa Romeo
- Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm
- Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
- Alpine
- Alpine A110
- Alpine A110 S
- Alpine A290
- Hyundai
- Hyundai i20N
- Hyundai N Vision
- Lamborghini
- Lamborghini Huracan STO
- Porsche
- Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992)
- Porsche 911 Turbo S (964)
- Mercedes-Benz
- Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II
When is the Assetto Corsa EVO release date?
So far Kunos has been operating within a pretty vague release window of just 2024.
However, a Steam listing for the game is now live, confirming that it’s still expected to launch in late 2024. This has been further backed up by posts on X from the game’s official account.
Studio owner Digital Bros originally said that an Early Access version would arrive at some point in the summer of 2024 – although time is soon running out to hit that window. There are no details of Early Access on the Steam listing at the time of writing.
To be among the first to know, it’s probably a good idea to either sign up to the game’s newsletter on its website or add Assetto Corsa EVO to your wishlist on Steam.

What consoles will Assetto Corsa EVO be on?
It’s expected that Assetto Corsa EVO will initially only launch on PC, especially as only the Steam listing has surfaced so far.
Digital Bros’ early comments about the game implied that a secondary launch will also include Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well but these will probably be later and into 2025.
Assetto Corsa EVO mods
The earlier games in the franchise were exceedingly popular, in no small part thanks to the ability to mod them to your specifications.
This time around, Kunos appears to be taking on the feedback from modders and integrating those features into the games from the start, such as with dynamic weather conditions.
However, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be more mods coming for the game. Indeed, while Kunos needs to acquire vehicle licenses to put cars in the game, modders won’t need to.
Popular cars that aren’t featured in the game officially will likely get custom mods.
While these won’t be officially endorsed by the developers, it’s more likely that we’ll get a simple statement that mods are supported – and the talented modders in the community can take it from there.
