ExxonMobil and BP Team Up to Propel Fieldnode’s On-Demand Spare Parts Initiative

ExxonMobil and BP have announced that they have joined The Industry Collaboration Project, led by Fieldnode. The collaborative effort aims to establish a robust digital inventory ecosystem, focusing on on-demand spare parts production to minimize lead times, physical inventories, and overall costs.

Fieldnode’s platform, developed in collaboration with Equinor and TotalEnergies, serves as the backbone for this initiative. The project targets key areas, including standardizing qualification processes, creating a commercial model supporting mass customization, and improving total cost of ownership for customers compared to traditional volume-based incentives.

“By integrating digital supply chain principles with additive manufacturing capabilities, we aim to reduce waste, lower costs, and enhance agility in response to rapidly changing operational demands,” said Chelsea Green, Life of Field Discipline Lead at BP.

“This partnership aligns with bp’s commitment to sustainability and technological advancement.”

Over the past year, the project has achieved noteworthy milestones. Pilot tests involving operators, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and manufacturers have refined commercial and software setups. The innovative commercial models developed within the project have fostered collaboration across the ecosystem, aligning the interests of operators and OEMs.

An agreement to optimize industry standards for supplier qualification in a more scalable and efficient manner marks a milestone with far-reaching implications. The successful processing of live orders through the platform demonstrates its readiness for widespread industry adoption.

“ExxonMobil’s inclusion as our ninth partner represents a significant milestone in the evolution of our ground-breaking collaboration between Fieldnode and the global energy industry’s leaders,” said Martin Andersson, Project Manager at Fieldnode.

“In the company of some of the world’s largest energy corporations, ExxonMobil’s participation enhances the collective strength of our project, further solidifying our commitment to redefine industry standards and drive innovation. Together, with these esteemed partners, we are forging a path towards sustainable and efficient solutions that will shape the future of the energy sector.”

As ExxonMobil and BP join this consortium, the project anticipates inviting more suppliers, independent additive manufacturing companies, and collaborators. This inclusive approach ensures broad adoption and benefits for the entire industry.
