Good day!
For some seccurity reasons, I’m in charge of our App store developer account and I can only have the role of admin as a policy.
Since the provisioning profile expiration is 1 year and the developer distribution certificate expiration is 3 years , I thought I was supposed to renew and deploy each year when the shorter provisioning profile expires.
In my organiztion, since there is only one admin role(me), we handle our distribution with manual signing option; developers give me tickets when they need to renew the provisioning profile,
then I renew the profiles on App Store Connect, sending profiles to them, following with manual signing….
I found this procedure to be meaningless and would like to change it so that each development organization manages its own provisioning profiles and sigming process.
I would like to give every developers access to “Certificates, profile, keys” and “Cloud managed distribution certificate”.
But since I’m not a developer and have no background about it… It’s hard to understand fully.
I’ve noticed that when I select Automatically manage signing in Xcode, it proceeds to Cloud Signing.

Like the screenshot above, selecting the Auto option changes the provisioning profile to the Xcode Managed Profile, as shown above,
I have a couple of questions in this point
- Why the schema of the screenshoot shown as development?
- Is that the partial signature explained in 8:45 of the session?
- If I build/archive the app, will the duration of the provisioning profile be renewed as well?
- So, since I’ve chosen Automatically manage signing, I don’t need to renew and manage provisionging profile like I did before
- Refer to this why in enterprise environment there is a downtime if we manage profile automatically? Could you plz explain this in detail?
