iphone – iOS 15.8 on Xcode 13.2.1

I’ve just received a somewhat old Mac that runs Big Sur and want to learn how to create apps using Swift and Xcode. I’m aware that the Xcode version on this machine is quite outdated and can’t compile apps for iOS 15.4+. However, I have an iPhone 7, which is running iOS 15.8, and I’m eager to know how to download the apps I am creating onto it.

I’ve been following the guide in the Xcode 13 book and have successfully completed the app “Light.” It occurred to me that I had an old iPhone 7 from work, but I couldn’t recall the password. Consequently, I had to wipe it, ultimately updating it to iOS 15.8. I’ve attempted to add the support files for both iOS 15.8 and iOS 16.0, but it didn’t work. I encountered this error: “Failed to prepare device for development. This operation can fail if the version of the OS on the device is incompatible with the installed version of Xcode. You may also need to restart your Mac and device to correctly detect compatibility.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please do not mention using any patcher, this is my first MAC ever and I do not want to harm it in any way, either software or hardware.
