Lithoz, a manufacturer of high-performance ceramic materials and 3D printers, has reportedly had another record year of growth in 2023, with the company confirming a 30% increase in 3D printers sold compared to last year. In addition to this, material production almost doubled.

After having reaffirmed its position as a world market leader earlier this year, this achievement in sales signifies the company’s strong and ongoing growth. A major theme for the company last year was the launch of the ‘Ceramic AM Factory’, using Lithoz’s Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) 3D printers for industrial mass production. With a majority of machines sold to partners with multiple Lithoz printers, serial production has been a clear contributor to the company’s 2023 results.

“By establishing these interconnected machine parks, Lithoz is driving the growth of serial production in ceramic 3D printing,” said Dr. Johannes Homa, CEO of Lithoz. “We’re working consistently with our customers to scale up to mass production. With one of our partners now producing well over one million parts per year, it’s fantastic to see all the effort paying off!”

Alongside serial production, Lithoz has focused on developing an ‘all from one source’ portfolio of ceramic 3D printing solutions. This approach saw success from all sides last year, with investments into Laser-Induced Slipcasting technology, LSD-Print, and multi-material manufacturing via AMAREA Technology.

In 2024, Lithoz is expected to set its sights on supporting the growth of ceramic 3D printing by increasing the number and strength of service bureaus worldwide. By establishing machine parks and broadening its offering of ceramic 3D printed solutions, Lithoz will advance the Ceramic AM Factory for serial mass production and drive forward innovation in industrial applications.

Late last year, Lithoz and ORNL entered a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement focused on the development of 3D printed non-oxide ceramics for extreme temperature applications.
