Mail.app "block contact" doesn’t really

My wife has suddenly started getting several spams a day that are probably phishing but sound like seduction.  Of course, the address is different every time, so if "block contact" worked, it wouldn’t help. But "block contact" doesn’t really block: the message goes into the same inbox or folder that it would go in if not blocked. The only difference is a little red "blocked" icon.  And I can’t find anything in Rules to delete messages from blocked contacts.

For most of these, it doesn’t matter becauser it’s a one-off address. But occasionally, a noobie spammer uses the same address.  Blocking is easier than updating a delete rule (and I have two delete rules that don’t work).

Redarm gave what appears to be the right answer, so I’m "accepting" it, even though I’m also reporting it to Apple because it doesn’t work:

Plus, not sure it’s the right place for Apple to put that: sometimes I block senders that aren’t really spam, but trying to harass me specifically.
