You can now access Meta AI through a dedicated iPhone app, bringing the Llama AI assistant right to your fingertips. Until now, you could only access Meta AI through WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.
Meta calls the app a first step toward creating a “more personal AI experience.”
Accessing Meta AI on iPhone gets easier
Google and OpenAI already offer dedicated mobile apps for their AI assistants. Meta is joining that list with the Meta AI app, providing access to the company’s latest Llama 4 model.
You must sign in with your Meta account to use the app.
“Meta AI is built to get to know you, so its answers are more helpful. It’s easy to talk to, so it’s more seamless and natural to interact with. It’s more social, so it can show you things from the people and places you care about. And you can use Meta AI’s voice features while multitasking and doing other things on your device, with a visible icon to let you know when the microphone is in use,” says Meta in its announcement.
For this, Meta AI will pull relevant information from your Facebook and Instagram accounts. However, Meta currently limits personalized responses to the U.S. and Canada.
Besides a chat tab, there’s a Discover feed that lets you see how others are using Meta AI. The app doesn’t automatically post your prompts to the feed; you have to share them manually.
Improved voice model for a more personal feel
Meta says it has improved the underlying Llama 4 voice model to make it “feel more personal and relevant.”
There’s also a built-in experimental voice demo with full-duplex speech, trained using conversational dialogue, that sounds almost human. This technology is still under development, so it cannot access the web or real-time information. For now, Meta limits voice conversations in its AI app to users in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
