3D model description
The holder securely holds the VIT SPORT soldering gun (3D Printer Filament Conector, model LD-2430 found on Amazon) in place, while keeping the filaments in a horizontal position. Sometimes, the heat emanating from the soldering gun tends to cause the filament to the left and right of the heating element to flex downwards when you move too much.
Hardware: Two parts to be printed: the filament holder and the circular base on which the lower arm of the soldering gun rests. The entire assembly is attached to a 3″ x 6″ wooden board. Mandatory drilling through each of the 4 legs of the soldering gun with a 9/64″ drill bit.
Instruction: Open the pliers and place the end of the filament in the middle of the heating element, then close the pliers. Insert another filament on the other side. Turn on switch for approx. 2 minutes 30 seconds, then turn off switch. Immediately, lightly press the filaments towards the center for better mixing. Cool naturally for 4-5 minutes. Open the pliers and remove the welded filament. Finish with sandpaper if necessary for a smoother polish.
