Counter-UAS, ISR Camera Teledyne FLIR Neutrino Ground IS

New MWIR Camera Module Will Improve Drone Detection, Perimeter Security and More

Teledyne FLIR, a division of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has unveiled its latest advancement in mid-wave infrared (MWIR) technology with the introduction of the Neutrino SX8-ISR 35-700 model. This new addition to the Neutrino Ground ISR series is specifically designed to enhance intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, including counter-unmanned aerial systems (CUAS).

The Neutrino SX8-ISR 35-700, featuring a resolution of 1280×1024, integrates Teledyne FLIR’s renowned MWIR camera module with a continuous zoom (CZ) lens. “The Neutrino SX8-ISR 35-700 offers high-performance imaging, industry-leading operational lifetime, and simplified integration with market-leading control electronics from InVeo Designs LLC,” stated Dan Walker, vice president of product management at Teledyne FLIR. He added that the module includes multiple connectivity options such as Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), Camera Link, and RS232/422, which facilitate faster data transfer and seamless integration into networked ISR, perimeter security, border surveillance, and CUAS systems.

The advanced video processor (AVP) included in the new Neutrino model, built on the Qualcomm QCS8550, powers the Prism™ AI software, enhancing detection, classification, and target tracking capabilities. The AVP also supports various Prism ISP algorithms, including super resolution, image fusion, atmospheric turbulence removal, electronic stabilization, local-contrast enhancement, and noise reduction, thereby improving data fidelity and decision support accuracy.

The Neutrino Ground ISR series utilizes a robust Linear Stirling cooler with a mean-time-to-failure exceeding 27,000 hours, ensuring long-term reliability. The fully integrated CZ lenses, developed by Teledyne FLIR, offer a range of focal length options that maximize detection, recognition, and identification (DRI) performance.

Manufactured in the USA and classified under the US Department of Commerce jurisdiction as EAR 6A003.b.4.a, the Neutrino Ground ISR products are not subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This classification provides greater flexibility for integration and development with foreign customers. Teledyne FLIR also offers a comprehensive software development kit (SDK), integration support, and documentation, backed by an industry-leading two-year warranty.

The introduction of the Neutrino SX8-ISR 35-700 reinforces Teledyne FLIR’s commitment to providing advanced solutions for ISR and CUAS applications, enabling users to more effectively identify and track drones entering secured areas.
